More about the owners of Matthews Farms.
Matthews Farms Boer Goats is located in Vale, NC.  The owners
include Vickie Matthews, Steven Matthews, and Melissa Bueche.
Steven and Melissa are currently in Stillwater, OK finishing their
final year of veterinary school.  Vickie has done virtually
everything with the goats for the past 8 years while Steven and
Melissa have been gone to veterinary school.  Steven and
Melissa were introduced to high quality show goats in Stillwater,
OK when they met Ron Dilley, an IBGA judge and stillwater
resident.  Ron sold Steven and Melissa their first show goat,
whose name is RDBG Fortune 1K.  It didn't take long for
everyone to become hooked on showing goats.  At the farms first
ever goat show in Fort Worth, TX at the Cowtown Classic on April
2nd, 2005, Fortune 1K got 2nd place in his class.  From then on
the farm has been investing in high quality boer goats for
showing.  Soon after the Fort Worth show, two more show goats
were bought, PRSR BETT and PRSR Billie.  Again luck was on
Matthews Farms side and PRSR BETT got first place the first
time she was shown in her 6-9 month old class in the ABGA
sanctioned Spring Classic goat show in Ada, OK.  The number of
goats that Matthews Farms has is about 50, but the number will
decrease in the near future to be able to buy better quality show
goats.  The farm will decrease in the near future, but it will
increase in the long run with superior quality show goats.
Steven lived in Vale, NC until he was 18 years old and decided to go to college at NC State
University where he would major in Animal Science.  Steven received his Bachelor of Science in
Animal Science in May 2001.  He had tried to get into veterinary school at NCSU, but was
unsuccessful because of the high number of applicants and the low number of students actually
accepted.   He heard about a veterinary school in the virgin islands, and decided to apply there to
see if he would be accepted.  In May 2002, Steven was accepted into veterinary school at Ross
University in St. Kitts (West Indies).  St. Kitts is an independent island that use to be governed by
Great Brittan.  St. Kitts has only had its independence for 20 years and is a 3rd world nation, so it
was like going back and living in the U.S. in the early 1900's, except we had cars.  Living in St.
Kitts was a drastic transition from living in NC, but a lot of knowledge was gained by this
experience both about veterinary medicine and about life.  Along the way in St. Kitts Steven met
Melissa Bueche, a fellow Ross University student that was from Colorado, and they started dating
about six months after being in St. Kitts.  Steven and Melissa both finished their final year of
veterinary medicine at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK.  Steven and Melissa met many
nice people in Oklahoma learned lots of valuable lessons about living in Oklahoma.

Steven and Melissa were married on January 21st 2006 and pictures of the wedding can be found
on the
wedding page.  We look forward to a busy laparoscopic A.I. and embryo transfer season
this year as well as trying to show all of the babies we are having.  Feel free to come and visit the
farm, visitors are always welcome.  Our address is : 6878 Gracie Lane
